Rob Scanlon
Exploring Tasmania outdoors for over 40 years
Loves to combine photography with walking, kayaking, boating and camping adventures with family and friends.
Aims to eventually share over "200" images through "TasScan" that both highlight Tasmania's natural beauty and hopefully inspire others to explore and look after our wilderness.
My Camera Gear
Sony NEX - 7 with Tamron 18 - 200 zoom lens.
Had this camera and lens for 4 years.
Was looking for smaller SLR with "eye" digital viewfinder.
My first "pre-digital" SLR a Contax RTS.
Coupled with a Zeiss zoom lens
Used more for photos of adventures with our family
My first camera a Rollei 35 S
Fixed Zeiss lens and built in light meter.
Manual settings forced me to explore ways to produce best images.
Photography Advice
Good light which is often weather dependent
Sunlight best when behind photographer
Quality polarising filter
Slight under - exposure
Understand relationship between shutter speed, aperture and ISO speed.
Interesting fore/mid/background objects
Key focus roughly one third by one third in from a corner
Zoom lens and eye view finder to support review screen
Patience !
